I received an answer from BBEdit support:
This is apparently a bug in the most recent update of BBEdit. Until
it's fixed it was suggested that I use the "Un/Comment" in the "Text"
menu bar, or create a key command for the menu item.

i've got my environment set up so i can work in php using bbedit, and
then just hit control+command+p to preview any file i'm working on in

How do I open bbedit with a certain file/line/column from a link in a
webpage?
There seem to be some references to x-bbedit://, but I cannot find any
examples or documentation.
e.g. "x-bbedit://open/?url=file:/Users/
franks/.bashrc&line=21&column=3" doesn't work.

I repeatedly copied text from a software help doc pdf in Adobe Reader,
pasted it into a BBEdit doc, typed in my own notes & saved. The
BBEdit text encodings are set at the defaults, including Unicode
(UTF-8). I 'Placed' (aka imported) the BBEdit doc into InDesign CS3.
