Of course! It all makes perfect sense when you already know how it works. But no one here cares to look at the dialog objectively, and ask whether or not it might be confusing. OK, that's all for now - I'm crawling out of the rabbit hole for a break. On Friday, May 4, 2018 at 12:33:05 PM UTC+1

Hey Sam - the first line of your answer is inane. I guess you're trying to help, but that doesn't change the fact: inane answer. On Friday, May 4, 2018 at 2:39:43 PM UTC+1, Sam Hathaway wrote: > > The BBEdit tag editor is designed to let you edit tag *attributes* not > tag *contents*. > > The p

I was angry with you because your response struck me as disingenuous and cutting. Esp. the suggestion to type it all out! Why would you think that would be helpful in a forum for BBEdit - an app that is supposed to add value by avoiding such an approach. So that's why - I hope that's clear to y

One thing I find useful is to set a shortcut for "Replace and Find Next". I use "Cmd-Opt-F" which is normally "Live Search" I guess. I use Cmd-E and Cmd-Opt-E as described to set up a search/replace and then cycle through the document doing Cmd-G to advance to the next instance and either Cmd-G

Hi Not sure why you are so angry at me when you actually ignored my answer. You type the link text first. Then you select it. Then you open the dialog, or type cmd-ctrl-a, and fill it in. Then when you close the dialog it puts the anchor AROUND THE TEXT YOU TYPED, as I said. It is quite true I

I guess you could call it "Link Text", or you could call it by one of the 3 or 4 other names that are used to describe the text that you see rendered in a link. But you've obviously not actually used the dialog, because there is NO PLACE in it for the "Link Text" by any name. And this makes me w
