There are a bunch of options you can use, such as prototyping capes etc to
get at the signals. The BBB is the first part in the stack of capes, and
the LCD cape is designed to be the last cape in the stack. So if you want
to access the extra pins, you need to get at them between the two.

Angstrom for the BBB, at least the most recent version, has a selection of
device tree files, both in source and precompiled form. I used them as a
basis for my own Beagleboar
I had looked at it and overlooked what was the problem but you asking and
my copy/paste made me realize I'd cat'ed it onto the capemgr.disable
mesg with a comma instead of separating it. It now works. Thanks for slap
in the back of the head.

I have what I think is a working DTS as the UART is working fine but I
cannot get the system to read the PPS from a GPS unit I have connected.
Below is my DTS and the UART 4 is working fine and I have the GPS's PPS

I suspect that you are messing with the boot pins. These pins are read to
determine the boot mode. Did you by chance read the System Reference Manual

I'm trying to use some of the P8 hdmi header pins as GPIOs.
They work fine if I boot the BBB without them plugged in, and once boot
plug them in.
But the BBB won't boot if they are plugged in when power is applied.
Nothing appears on the console tty.

USB or 5v DC input. I have wired a battery to the testpoints that go to the
PMIC (U2) and the switch no longer functions as expected. It shuts down but
then immediately restarts.
