Re: [beagleboard] CE and ESD, BBB is failing 4kV contact discharge ESD testing

To give further background... The BBB is positioned centrally at the front of a relatively large enclosure. It is connected to a display/touchscreen which are also situated in the same area. The USB I/O is brought out of the enclosure at the side of the unit via USB cables and another PCB.

Thanks Gerald. I will look into that and report back in the New Year... On Tuesday, 23 December 2014 15:30:29 UTC, Gerald wrote: You need to make sure that there is an earth ground on your power supply. The case of the USB connectors go to the common point ground, which is a zero ohm

Thanks for the prompt response Gerald. The beagle has been designed into a system which is in a plastic and metal enclosure. The only I/O it has to the outside (other than touchscreen) is 2 USB connections. These connections are what are prone to the 4kv ESD. A discharge on the shell of

Hi Guys, I am seeing the same issue as Richard above. Was a solution ever found for this ESD reset issue? In the past I have had some success on solving this issue on other micros by adding some capacitance on the micro's reset line to prevent the reset I/P bouncing when the ESD takes place,

[beagleboard] Info required for using BBB with 10.1 Display

Hello, myself and a colleague currently have a project to use the BBB with a 10.1 Display. We currently have an Android build (4.1.2 for AM335X EVM platform) that works with a 7 display. The resolution of the 10.1 is the same as the 7 (1024 x 600) as is the hardware pin out. The 10.1 does

I am integrating the 74AVC32T245 device into my design. I have spotted a discrepancy between the pin out shown on the schematic for the LCD7 cape (document number BBT-BONE-LCD7-01, REVA3) and the pinout according to the datasheet. The schematic shows: H1 as 2B8 H2 as 2B7 The Texas instruments

Hi Robert, Here are the comments from our Android guy: I’ve tried running the script using bootcmd in uEnv.txt, however I cannot run the script as u-boot does not get to the stage where it reads uEnv.txt. Do you have any other suggestions for running the script? On Wednesday, 26 February

I can now confirm that my PCB supplier has now successfully fitted connectors P8, P8 and I have taken delivery of my first-off sample. Gerald, are you able to point me to some instructions on how I get my virgin beagleboardblack up and running? I have tried using an SD card with a known good

My design is a cut-down version of the BBB without HDMI IC fitted and without eMMC IC fitted. I want to get my new BBB booting off the SD card. Is it essential to have the eMMC IC fitted or can the system be made to run without eMMC? On Wednesday, 26 February 2014 15:45:18 UTC, Gerald wrote:

My design is a cut down version of BBB. The HDMI IC is not fitted and the eMMC is not fitted. Will the BBB boot from SD card without the eMMC IC fitted? Or is the eMMC essential to the operation even when booting from Sd card? On Wednesday, 26 February 2014 15:45:18 UTC, Gerald wrote:

I have now taken delivery of my cut-down version of the BBB, it is essentially the same as the BBB with the HDMI IC (U11) not fitted and with the eMMC IC not fitted (U13). I'm now at the stage of configuring/getting the board to boot for the first time. I wish to boot from the SD card. How

Thank you for the speedy response Gerald. The PCB files used were those contained in Beaglebone_blackrevB4_MFG.zip Is it likely the holes were deliberately under-sized to the datasheet to give the tight fit you mention. I am yet to see the problem physically for myself. The PCB supplier is
