While I was putting up the Christmas tree for my first Berner Christmas
ever, I had the TV to make noise in the house. I had just sat down to look
at the tree from a different angle (read tired of standing up) and there was
a Progresso clam chowder commercial on. I caught a glimpse of a large dog
Hi Fran,
One of my intact males had exactly those symptoms some years ago. I
cannot remember the name of it (something with the urethra ..I'm a big
help!), however it was easily remedied with antibiotics. I had feared a
kidney problem or something else horrible. The condition is fairly

Shelley,
My experience with bach flower remedies is with horses moreso than with
dogs. I have found that administering the remedies in 10-15 minute
intervals finds them reaching noticeable effect in 40-45 minutes from the
first administration.

It took me a while to teach my Berners to use the new doggie door I
installed in the kitchen - it took almost a month before they got the
hang of it and would use it without me being there, encouraging them,
partly opening the flap, etc. NOW - they LOVE IT - It just takes time

Hi Fran
Yep, I can ( unfortunately!) relate completely. Harvey has had a few bouts
of watery blood dripping from his penis. The first time this occurred, I was
EXTREMELY worried. Vet, antibiotics, the whole caboodle. It cleared up
straight away. However, a urine analysis showed, amongst other thin
Shelley,
I can tell you that with my Star it has just taken lots of work, really good
treats and lots of patience.
I have had my girl in classes continually for the past year. They have been

Hello,
I am long time berner lover and have always dreamed about
having one of my own someday. I am doing my research and
plan to go to a dog show tomorrow and talk with owners and
breeders. I am curious to find out what are the important
questions one should ask when going to a dog show? I wo
I am caring for a BARC Berner who most likely is related to Marilyn Blake's
Star. We have come to the conclusion that these two dogs demonstrate
claustrophobic behavior when they are in the house or car. Indoors, pacing
and panting is the behavior and as soon as they go outside all is fine.

Last night, I realized that I probably need to get a 'real life'. After
retiring for the night Assi (BMD) asleep by my head, Halli (BMD) on the foot
of the bed and 100 pound Florian (BMD) took his usual position, next to me,
draped across my chest. I proudly told them all "I have on new pajamas".
