As for the bad dreams, Tatty has nightmares fairly regularly. We just let her sleep on unless she is shaking too in which case I reassure her gently and stroke her. The length of nightmare seems to be dcreases as does the frequency. and we got her at 9 weeks! Emma and Tatty, France - Original

Swiss TV

I just spent four weeks in Switzerland and had the opportunity to watch a little TV while I was there. They had a program about a chap who goes around doing artificial insemination at dairy farms (not exactly "CSI Miami" but if they want drivel they just dub "Friends" in German). The program

Tim, Boy did you hit it on the head this morning! Exactly when did the breed start going down hill health wise? Is it the internet that allows us as owners to know what various diseases we are facing or has the environment and what we feed our dogs become so detrimental these last 25 years?

I am not sure that things are worse now -- I think it is easy to look back at a time when records were not kept and information not widely shared, and think that those were better days. Maybe they were -- maybe they weren't. I do agree that we have a ways to go in terms of health issues, and

Hi Mark, I would assume you are not talking tall apartment blocks here! If its to lower your dog quickly and efficiently out of a window on a first floor then I would suggest a padded harness and a mountain rope. Make sure you have rings firmly anchored inside the building through main supports

Good suggestion , Sherri ! And to carry it one step further , I'd give your local fire department a call and ask their advice. They may be able to tell you exactly what to look for and where to get it :-). And it helps if they know you have animals. There are stickers available for your doors and

We know from the old Swiss saying that this was never a long-lived breed, even in the old days. That the working dogs of the farm were sturdier and perhaps healthier is probably because there were no breeding standards -farmers bred their dogs to other dogs probably based more on working ability
