Hmm, I encoded an MP3 file and an ALAC file with iTunes 9, and both set Sound Check data in the usual way in an iTunNORM tag. I think the value it's calculating may be wrong (it's quieter than ReplayGain) but at least the data is there. If you have any more info on what changed please add it to
