Once consequence of combining albumartists, artists and composers as I
discussed above is that neither iPeng or Squeeze Commander can cope with
the number of entries (close to 300k tracks) and the Artist browse
becomes unusable with the apps slowing to a near halt.

Correction to this - it seems one has to close the LMS browser windows
in order to get the refreshed result. All compilations now have no
track artists appearing as album artists.
However, an (unintended?) consequence is that Compilations browse

Yep, moving or renaming the folder results in the artwork being picked
up. I'd have thought fixing the rescan code would be pretty simple if
the only issue is it doesn't look for artwork outside of the files when
doing an update scan.

which I had no artwork, added folder.jpg to the subdir and then ran a
rescan - artwork wasn't picked up.
