Well, I followed Michael's advice and completely disabled real-time
scanning in MSE. And the scan completed perfectly!
Looks like a bug in MSE, where its not ignoring certain file types even
if you tell it to.

Just downloaded the latest nightly (now that it's reverted to MySQL),
and all my artists are back! So it was obviously something to do with
the SQLite implementation...

like rebooting and deleting the cache,
but it doesn't help.
Yesterday's nightly (which was also based on MySQL) started fine, so I
guess it must be something to do with the big merge???
Let me know if there's any more debugging I can help with.

Just checked my song count, and its changed from "808 albums with 10940
songs by 220 artists" to "821 album
You could try changing from "treat multiple discs as separate albums" to
"treat multiple discs as a single album". I think I might have changed
this value myself, but I can't remember what I had it set to before!

However, I know I can play the whole playlist successfully if I select
it using "Browse Playlists". If the problem is like you describe,
wouldn't this cause the same type of crash?

creates a playlist with all songs in the library. This is incorrect -
it should be a playlist of all songs by the artist.

wireless connection, but the signal strength is around 80%, so that

Looks to me like its related to svn r5227, where a new content_type
varchar was introduced.

So I've rolled back to r5226, and everything is hunky-dory again.
(So the problem is definitely somewhere between 5227 and 5335!)

I think the software identifies the hardware version based on MAC
address. So maybe the MAC address of your 3rd SB3 is corrupt?
Just check the MAC address reported in the SB3 menu against the MAC
address printed on the bottom of the SB3.

If I select "Browse > Year" on the player UI, I get the correct list of
years. But if I select a year, I only get one album, rather than a list
of all the albums for that year.
Does this help to narrow down the Browse Year problem?
