I too used moonbase's new and improved .tt file (for the >+1GB Ram) and
noticed considerable improvement. On the server I made changes to I did
a clear and rescan of about 55,000 files, all with artwork, that
finished in 1 hour 34 minutes. This has always taken well in excess of 2
hours. Also, no
You're ahead of me on this. My experience in the past has been on linux
systems where I've had to manually create the empty slow query log file
and give it the appropriate permissions so that mysqld could write to
it. But that was several mysql versions ago and I'm not sure that's
still necessar
Wow!
Went to the memory optimization thread. Dowloaded the attached my.tt
file. Stopped Squeezebox Server, transferred the new my.tt file,
restarted SBS.
New music is now instant. I can't believe it.

To enable slow query logging in MySQL, first stop Squeezebox Server,
then find the my.tt file in the Squeezebox server installation
/server/MySQL/ f
I haven't noticed any speed difference for New Music between the
different versions of SqueezeCenter and Squeezebox Server. Pulling up
the first page of New Music in the web interface takes about the same
amount of time as pulling up one of the browse Albums pages - about 3 or
4 seconds.

Well you may be happy to know I improved the performance of New Music
for SqueezePlay/iPeng/CLI, it's much faster now. Player UI/Web UI use
different code unfortunately so those are the same.

Do you know how to turn on the MySQL slow query log? In my experience,
slow db queries are best debugged with this feature rather than SBS's
sql logging. Among other things, the slow query log will tell you if a
query is generating a Cartesian result set

running 7.4.2 on windows XP machine. Probably takes 30 or 40 seconds or
so to load up new music (100 limit) the first time I select. If i go to
another menu item the reselect new music, it is probably 15 or 20
seconds and the album art is instant...

Ehm... anyone? This is happening on the "stable" release as well.

Version: 7.4.2 - r29679 upgraded from 7.4.1 official release in the hope
of solving the problem. Standard plugins in use (activated and
deactivated Lazy Search in doubt that it was the cause, to no avail).
Windows 7 x64, 2 GB RAM, Athlon X2 235e 2.7GHz (plenty of performance
available, I'd say).
