Northwest winds and rising BP brought up to 15 observers to Cranberry for 4
hours this Nov.10 morning. In the first hour a Peregrine Falcon enthused us
with many low-flying soaring "kettles" before perching in a willow tree for
an hour. In the second hour Stan Long, from the north platform, no

Birded Amherst Island this morning and observed 15-20 Long-eared Owls in
the "Owl Woods". Didn't see any Northern Saw-whets but they can be hard to
find. Other birds of interest included a late Eastern Phoebe, 3 Fox Sparrow

While strolling along the Fingers Trail at Presqu'ile this afternoon, I
found a female Black-backed Woodpecker. This trail is not signed but starts
at a wooden gate approximately .9km along the main road from the park's

A Blue (snow) goose has been seen at the St Christopher's Beach in Goderich for
the past few days. It is hanging out with a large flock of Canada Geese on the
beach. It can be easily seen. St. Chris. beach is at the south end of the

Birded the Long Sault Parkway again this morning.
The RED-NECKED GREBE spotted last week was still present and very close,
between Hoople and Dickinson Islands on the north side of the parkway.

The KFN did their annual fall roundup within the Kingston 50 km circle last
weekend and tallied a respectable 126 species. Since the circle includes
some of Prince Edward County I'll try not to repeat those sightings already
