I get an unobstructed view of the CIBC and The Bay
buildings from the large windows on the north side of
our building (Child Welfare Centre - Children's Aid
Society of Toronto - 30 Isabella). AT 9:35 am this
morning I took a look at these buildings, with

As expected there has been some interest in the report of the barn owl.
Unfortunately there aren't a lot of details to provide. In every case that I am
aware of, the bird has been seen after dark, flying along one of the concession
roads or occasionally crossing the road and seen in the headli
Just to inform anyone, the Townsend's Solitaire is still at Millbrook at
Deer Park in Ottawa. Thanks to the three birdwatchers who helped me find it
in the coniferous trees.

While checking out (successfully) the Barred Owl along March Valley Road early
this afternoon (3 January 2008), I saw a Northern Shrike, a flock of around 30

Today I saw my first Red-shouldered Hawk of the winter sitting in a tree
along Campbellville Road, in Campbellville, just west of Milton. The hawk
was seen around 9:15 am on the south side of the road just east of Guelph
Junction Rd., between the two track crossings as you head west from t

The sky was awesome and the birds were brave. A CAROLINA WREN by my kitchen

Yesterday, January 2nd, spent most of the day birding around the Ottawa
area. Despite the cold temperatures there was still lots of activity around
feeders, Trail Road Landfill site and the Ottawa River. At least 1 Hoary
Redpoll was still present in a flock of 50+ Common Redpol
The 28th St. Clair National Wildlife Area CBC was held on January 1, 2008. The
weather was relatively calm to begin with but by 9:00 a.m. the wind, and then
the snow, became a factor as a cold front went through. Northwest winds
averaged at least 20 km/hr with gusts to 40 km/hr or more. Daytim
