Barb Charlton and I managed to see the earlier reported White-winged Dove
this evening at about 7:35 pm. We first heard it call a few times at about
7:15 from a large silver maple tree in the yard behind 4 Mississauga Rd. but
only saw it about 20 minutes later when it flew through the yard towards

Returned later in the day after 5pm. Still no Pelican. The juvenile

up at the corner of King Street and Melinda Court. She was having "lunch" on
the TD building which we have a great view out of our office tower. I am slowly

On the way home from work tonight at 7 PM I spotted 15 Nighthawks just north
of Appleton. They were flying very low over a field just north of the
Appleton soccer fields. This is the first year so far in 20+ years of
looking, that I have seen none in Carleton Place.

Hello Ontbirders,
As of 6:18p.m. the Am. White Pelican was sleeping in the reeds on the island
on the right hand side of the pond. Fortunetly, the Pelican swam out of the
reeds into view.

There was a male redhead at Reesor Pond at 3:00 pm today. The water is
higher than normal covering most of the mud on the bars, but a few greater
yellowlegs are still hanging around.
Directions: Reesor pond is located in Markham on the west side of Reesor
Road between Hwy 7 and 14th Ave, just nor
The Pelican at the Moodie Drive pond of Burnside Pit was NOT seen when I
visited at 1.20pm
It is possible it was out of sight behind the long island but it did not appear
during the 15 minutes of my observation.

Greetings all,
This morning Sarah Petrasek and I birded Presqu'ile's Owen Pt. from
0800-0900 just before a mild storm front passed over.
There were small numbers of shorebirds along the spit off Owen Pt.,
but almost none on the beach. Shorebirds seen included:

An adult White-winged Dove is being seen at a private residence in north St.
Catharines. The bird is most often seen in the backyard but also has been
spotted in the residence front yard Maple tree and other neighboring trees.
