On Friday at approx. 6:45pm a Pileated Woodpecker flew across Mulock Rd.
at the point
where the Holland River crosses under the road. This is not the first
time I have seen a
Pileated woodpecker fly over this road.

A rare duck has appeared (or re-appeared) at Presqu'ile Provincial Park
this week, and every day brings sightings of newly arrived spring
migrants. Southerly winds are in the forecast for the next week, so we
can expect some record early arrivals.

Hello Everyone.
The local pair of SANDHILL CRANES
were around yesterday along the roadside on Kettle Point. Lambton County.
Today there were three Tree Swallows foraging over the reed beds.
Also a heavy movement of N. FLICKERS.
Also--in the Pinery there was a
I saw an adult Golden Eagle near the Rideau River south of Kemptville this
afternoon about 2pm. It was fairly low initially but soon caught a thermal and
went high. See photos at link below.

This morning my dad and I scanned through the ducks and Mute Swans at Big Creek
marsh in Amherstburg. We were able to get some nice views of a male Eurasian
Wigeon amongst the many American Widgeon, Gadwall, Shovellers and Blue and
Green-winged Teal. We also saw a pair of Pied-billed Grebes.

Today as I was driving hwy 115 to Peterborough a Common Raven flew
over my car, being persued by 3 Crows. This was near the Victoria Rd
exit to Bethany. I drive this highway often and this is the first time
I have seen a Raven anywhere along the 115.

Oshawa Second Marsh Little Gull staging has started early this year. The
first 2 showed up on March 27, on March 31 there were 4 and today 1.
Other species observed this morning include
Waterfowl 19 species including Wood Duck 5 ,Gadwall 36, American Black Duck
26, Northern Shoveler 3, Northern
This morning from 8:30 to 10:00, I observed an adult Red-shouldered Hawk
soaring and calling near Metcalfe, south of Ottawa. The bird could
easily be seen from the road.
