At the rear of the Prime motors Dealership is a ravine that is part of the
'Coves'. There are copious amounts of Dark-eyed Juncos there daily now. Among
them was one bird with white wing bars. Sibley calls it a Slate-coloured
variant adult. All of its features in form and colour are the same

Greetings Ontbirders,
Early this afternoon, my father Don and I heard and then spotted a Boreal
Chickadee in a small grouping of Black-cappeds at Presqu'ile's Owen Point.
Other birds of note from our outing include 1 Snow Bunting on the gravel bar
off Owen Point and at least 2 Lapland Longspurs on
The female Black Backed Woodpecker originally reported by Bruce DiLabio on the

numbers of a month earlier, the only exception being the large number of
ducks off
Many people on the Visitor Centre viewing deck got to view a rarely observed
sight on both Saturday and Sunday (October 16 and 17): moose mating in the
Sunday Creek bog.
At least one American marten has been seen irregularly eating sunflower seed
at the Visitor Centre.

I found 1 this afternoon about 4:15 with a large flock of chickadees (about
20) and kinglets (about 30 golden and 10 ruby-crowned)
I first saw it close but only for about 5 seconds, after which I lost track
of it. I refound it about half an hour later (the flock was very spread
out), watched it
Birders : The 2 Cattle Egrets remain here still, after arriving
a week ago. The cattle have become much more accustomed
to them and tend to ignore them now. If the temperature does not
go too low, and the grasshoppers + other insects thrive , perhaps
the egrets will even stay longer.
