With 28 people and 12 cars in tow and mild but somewhat windy weather,
we left the Hagersville Tim Hortons at 11:15 A.M. yesterday (Sat., Feb.
12) on Hwy. 6 heading north.
Highlights of the trip :

Detroit River at Alexander Park in Windsor was almost ice-free today
(Feb. 13th) at 1 pm.The highlight was a Horned Grebe, swimming
less than 10 m from the breakwall. There were also Redheads,

The first-winter Black-legged Kittiwake first seen briefly in Cobourg
harbour a couple of days ago was refound today and is swimming close to
shore just off the west parking lot.
The harbour gulls are spectacular today - an estimated 5000+ total packed
onto the ice, including 10+ Glaucous, 12+ Icel
Hey Birders,
Mike and I ventured down to Brantford to check out the Gray Partridge. While
driving along Robinson Road, just past Potruff we spotted the covey of 15 Gray
Partridge, hunkered down in the fence row. They were pretty easy to see. Nice
to see after a few years of absence.
Not to
100 + Bohemian Waxwings fed on buckthorn berries 250 m. s. of Trent Univ.
Conservation Area on University Rd. at 2.30 pm today.
The overwintering Pied-billed Grebe was seen just south of Lakefield on the
Otonabee River. Also, flocks of Common Mergansers and Common Goldeneyes.

A smaller flock of Bohemian Waxwings (yesterday, there were 200+ birds) were
seen flying over the Hilda Road feeder area today but did not see any of
them land. I understand the Bohemian Waxwings have been in the general area
for at least the last five days. The visiting North
Today, around noon, I observed a 1st year Bald Eagle at the Haliburton
landfill. Although they have become a fairly regular bird in the county during
the winter, I have rarely seen them in the local dump. The bird provided the
opportunity for very close observation.

While looking at the kittiwake at Cobourg harbour Doug McRae found a basic
adult Mew Gull on the ice near the central pier around 4.30pm today, Sunday
February 13. Seen by myself and several other lucky local birders.

Hello all,
In a short afternoon jaunt onto Ravenshoe Road in Keswick today, I found the
heavily barred SNOWY OWL (perhaps my last for the next few winters, which
I'll be spending down South) at the end of the little road going south at
the very west end of Ravenshoe road. It was very, VERY far out
