My wife just phoned on the cell phone to say that she's viewing (11:25
a.m.) a Sandhill Crane in the marsh off Outer Drive in the Port
Franks/Northville area. It was located northwest of the main body of
water (south of the small bridge). Great view, easily seen with binoculars.

I spent this morning birding a small portion of the Ganaraska forest after
an employee told me he saw an unknown species of bird entering a nest this
week. It ended up being a red crossbill nest and appeared as though the

Late this morning, Jean and I, along with my mother-in-law and her partner,
attempted to view the Mountain Bluebird at the Ridge Road Estate Winery (1205
Ridge Road) in Stoney Creek. No sightings of either species of bluebird, even
while tasting wine.
We observed the Northern
There were five Horned Grebes very close to the west side of the Marina cell
behind the Naval station at the West end of Queen's Quay in Toronto.
Not very skittish, and I had an excellent view for ~ ten minutes.
Queens Quay runs along the Lake Ontario shore in downtown Toronto.

10 mins north of Belleville on hwy 62 west side of the hwy in someones yard
at a ponds edge a Great White Heron or Great Egret??? I'm no expert but I
didn't think they were found this far north. East side a few mins further still
north a Woodcock on the shoulder.
