This morning Mark Peck and I went looking for Red Crossbills. Did not take
long to find one. There was one adjacent to the parking lot when we first
arrived.
We had a total of 35 Red Crossbills. While they were loosely scattered
throughout the forest, most were either foraging on the cones of

Folks,
On Thursday April 7 I saw an immature Northern Goshawk in the forest on the
Tulip Tree Trail in Rondeau Provincial Park.
I also found my first Field Sparrow and Fox Sparrow of the year. Both were with
flocks of Song Sparrows along the Marsh Trail. The forests had abundant

This morning at Reesor Pond I re-found the Greater Yellowlegs as
reported yesterday by Stan Long. It was stepping along the shore in
the far south-eastern corner of the pond.
A nice surprise was a pair of Caspian Terns on the north sand spit.
They were courting, or perhaps already paired
Today Ian Cannell, Jay Peterson, Margaret Liubavicius and I birded the Long
Point area and though we missed the White-fronted Geese reported as being at
the Lee Brown Sanctuary and the Eurasian Wigeon we made up for them with the
variety of birds we did find and following are some of the 90

In the pond were three Blue Winged Teal - two drakes and a hen. They were
there yesterday as well. An uncommon bird for me.
In the harbour was one Horned Grebe, some Buffleheads, and a Long tailed
duck.
