Good Evening, Folks...
While snoozing in front of the Blue Jay's on tv this evening, I was called
to the door by a neighbour to come look at the 'quail' in their yard. Turns
out it was a beautiful male Northern Bobwhite. It was peacefully scratching
in the wood chip mulch by the house, for bugs,
I stopped for a brief visit in Port Perry, where I saw and heard 3 Chimney
Swifts actively hunting above the downtown intersection of Queen and Perry
Streets.

Hey Ontbirders,
Just a reminder to all those interested in attending the upcoming field
trip to Long Point that the date has changed to June 9th not June 2nd as
listed in the 2012 OFO Field Trip Schedule.
Directions and itinerary:
Meet at Bird Studies Canada headquarters at 6:30 a.m. (located on
Tim McCarthy and I spent 4.5 hours on site and recorded 30 Whimbrels
(7 at 10:00 am and 25 at 2:00 pm); the latter flock was spotted by
David Hallett. Other migrant shorebirds included 5 White-rumped
Sandpipers, 20 Semipalmated Sandpipers and 4 Dunlin: all of these were
feed on beaches on
The Old Timers Co-operative Big Year Team released their free agent this
afternoon and made a final stop at the RRSL. 4 Marbled Godwits dropped in to
bathe at about 5:20 p.m. We had essentially the same birds as May 29 and
confirmed the Red-necked Phalarope from last night.

The Old Timers Co-operative Big Year Team picked up a free agent, Dan Lee, and
followed his bird survey route around Hwys 600, 619 and 617 from Rainy River to
Stratton.
Marbled Godwit flew between utility poles west of Worthington #3 and Byrnes RD.
2 Connecticut Warblers were heard on 619 about 3

Ths morning a female COWBIRD was ripping open an
Am. ROBINS egg which held a live and fully formed ROBIN chick.
Ten minutes later the chick was half eaten.
Ugh.
No sign of the Brown Pelican.

of Rainy River. We entered the NCC property on Oak Grove Road near Oak Grove
