A likely escapee European Greenfinch was observed at a platform feeder in
Lambton Woods on Thursday just after noon. The observers, Paul Xamin and I,
had no clue what it was but with the help of ex Brits Paul Prior and through
Paul, David Beadle, they identified the bird from photographs taken b

small chunk of ice in an open bay along Lakeshore Road just west of Sweets
Corners Road. The best viewing is from your car at house number 1681.

The Greenfinch was present this afternoon at the feeders, although not
seeing taking seed but consuming berries. No bands were evident, and the
flight feathers appeared unworn and were actually quite fresh. Also, not
particularly confiding in nature.

A female European Greenfinch was seen near the Visitor Centre at Point
Pelee on April 19, 2012.
At the time no one thought that this bird was anything other than an
escaped or released bird.

reportedly seen by Marg and Ian Sturdee on 7 February 2012 on

Took a late day spin around the west end of Ottawa. The heavily barred Snowy
Owl was at the same location along Rushmore road between Old Richmond Road and
Eagleson.

European Greenfinch along with Linnet, Eurasian Siskin, European Goldfinches
and of course Chaffinches have all made appearances at Whitefish Point, MI and
area of the last decade. Chaffinches for a while were quite regular each spring
with as many as 6 birds at one time at the feeder

This afternoon Don Sutherland and I located a Boreal Chickadee at
Presqu'ile - very likely the same individual reported some weeks ago
from the same site, suggesting it has been there all along. The
