A guided bird walk at Spruce Bog Boardwalk will occur from 1 to
2:30 pm on March 15 (Friday).

Today the flooded fields adjacent to Big Creek, just west of Walsingham,
had hundreds of Tundra Swans & at some points over a thousand ducks.
The ducks included Ring-Necked, Pintails, Wigeons, Mallards, Hooded
Mergansers, Wood ducks, Black ducks. Birds were continually flying in &
out all day
The first significant influx of spring migrants other than waterfowl took place
at Presqu’ile Provincial Park beginning at the end of last week. Waterfowl
have also built up their numbers and variety in anticipation of the forthcoming
Waterfowl Viewing Weekend.
There has been a single TRUMPET
At about 12:40 I saw a small flock of about a dozen Bohemians flying at
speed on Hamilton Hall Road, which runs parallel to Pringle, one block south
(and my first grackles of the season) but a slow drive through the
neighbourhood did not reveal any more. Hamilton Hall Road runs east off
Wooten Wa
9:15 am .. Pringle Ave. Markham
Estimated count of 130 Bohemian Waxwings . Flock was calling and
perching in Red Maples and Black Pine, feeding on nearby crabapples
and drinking meltwater from melting snow on house roofs.
Pringle is north of Hwy 7, east of Markham Rd/Main St/Hwy48, West of 9th L
Today between 5:30 and 7:20 pm, the following were present in the flooded field
to the south of West Dumfries Road:
Tundra Swan - estimated 250; possibly more
Snow Goose - 4 adults counted; no Ross' Goose
Greater Scaup - 7 drakes
Ring-neck Duck - 3 drakes
Canvasback - 2 drakes
Mallard - pair
