I had about 50 (skittish) LAPLAND LONGSPURS at the West Perth Wetlands this
afternoon, along with at least 3 American Pipits.
Shorebird-wise, Dunlin and both Yellowlegs were present, along with Least,
Semipalmated, Solitary, and Spitted Sandpipers.
To reach West Perth Wetlands from the south,
There was a Marbled Godwit today at the breakwall at Sheridan Point (northwest corner of Pelee Island). There was also a Hooded Warbler at Lighthouse Point (ne corner) and 9 Willets at Fish Point (sw corner)

This evening, about 8:00 p.m., I heard a Sora rail calling in the southernmost
cell of the Richmond lagoons. It called several times. I could not see it in
the cattails and tussocks out in the cell but it sounded like it was about 20
metres out.

Hope they start nesting and that the township doesn't remove the nest.

Just drove home from Point Pelee via Highway 3 and saw several flocks of
hundreds of each type west of Port Alma. Total birds were well into the
thousands and more birds were flying further inland. Very impressive.
The largest flocks were behind the Shanks Seeds barns past Coatsworth Road.

The American Avocet is still at the construction site off Road 33 east of
Leamington between Seacliffe Drive - Mersea 1 and Oak Street Mersea Road 2. If
not on the site proper check wet spots behind the mounds of dirt. Email me for
more specific info.

Good afternoon birders,
It is oppressively hot out there but there are lots of birds in the park,
so if you move slowly and look carefully you can often locate some
interesting things.
A Worm-eating Warbler was seen on Bennett Rd. at the third bench back from
Rondeau Ave.

Today at approx. 11:30 am a male Bobolink in breeding plumage was gurgling away
on a bare tree on the east side of the meadow.
The meadow itself (should be called The Shrubbery now) was ruled by Gray
Catbirds and Yellow Warblers. Other birds of note were Baltimore Orioles,
Rose-breasted Grosbe

Doug McRae found an adult male Piping Plover at beach 1 today at roughly
6:45am. The bird moved between beach 1 and 2 until a walker put the bird up. We
were able to determine the band combo as upper left metal and lower left yellow
over orange, the right leg had upper leg
While the early morning started off slow at Point Pelee NP, action really
picked up into the mid and later morning.
The highlight of this morning was undoubtedly the Eurasian Tree Sparrow that
was seen flying north over The Tip from Lake Erie. It is believed to still be
in the Park but has not
