Hey folks,
Amanda Guercio and I spent a lovely evening on the Carden Alvar today,
highlighted by a singing Yellow Rail at Sedge Wren Marsh on Wylie Road.
The Yellow Rail started singing at about 7:05 PM on the west side of the
marsh, quite a distance in. It sang intermittently every 10-15
Today at 1 pm I watched a pair of Common Ravens chase off a Turkey Vulture at Hullett Marsh. The birds seemed to be hanging around a stand of pines and spruce, at the highest point of land on the road to the parking lot for the shooting range at Hullett Marsh. The road is the northern extension

During the afternoon Friends of Point Pelee hikes the Hooded Warbler was seen
well again on the west side of the Tip near the bench. What I believe are the
first Chimney Swifts of the season were flying around the tram stop area, and A

At about 1:00 p.m. today, Saturday, April 30, Bruce Aikins and I (Stu
Williams) , while looking for the Pacific Loon, observed one Arctic Tern

Hello birders:
I hate to make a posting like this because this is not a 100%
identification, but I observed at 1:30PM a probable Swainson's Hawk
circling high above ~Km 442 on the 401. We were driving eastward on the 401
and could not stop due to a tight timeline to attend a family gathering.
I visited Nonquon sewage lagoons today. Lots of great shorebird habitat in
cells 1 and 2 (most easterly cells). Four species of shorebirds – Killdeer (2),
Spotted sandpiper (1), Lesser Yellowlegs (30) and Greater Yellowlegs (27).
Great potential for more to come.
Also Northern Pintail (9),

Derek & Jen Lyon just came into the Visitor Centre with fantastic pictures
of a Black-necked Stilt they found at the Hillman Marsh Shorebird Cell.
The bird was seen a couple times between 11:30 am and 12:30 pm. It was
chased off twice by the Ring-billed Gulls - it returned
Another cool morning at Point Pelee, but there were obvious signs of migration
overnight with new species being seen. At the Tip male Hooded and Blackburnian
Warblers were seen well with more common species such as Yellow, Yellow-rumped
and Black-and-white Warblers. Horned Grebes continue on

The bird was seen again today by myself and another birder Jesse Paltalk. It was southwest of the Whimbrel Watch. Much further out, 500 metres, than the last two days. It dove and was briefly located about 800 metres out moving to the southwest. A note of caution, it takes
