I checked a large swath of area in the vicinity of yesterday's Whooping Crane
report this afternoon for perhaps 4-5 hrs.
I counted fairly accurately 520 Sandhill Cranes in 3 main groups, with a
scattering of other individuals. They do indeed seem to almost entirely
confined to the area around H
I suspect we will still get more feedback but I wanted to provide a summary
for those debating on whether or not to make the trip here. Most people
have argued convincingly for Ruby-throated Hummingbird (but some very
experienced western birders have also argued for Black-chinned). Below is a

Migrant land birds are still evident in Presqu'ile Provincial Park but
in somewhat reduced numbers. Other birds remain plentiful. This time of
year has produced several rare birds in the past, as noted below.
Two BRANT were reported on October 21 and 22. The two long-staying

Hi folks,
Bruce Di Labio got news about this bird and four of us went to see and
photograph it this morning. This bird has been coming to a hummingbird
feeder at 400 Bayview Drive Constance bay since October 20th. The bird can
only be viewed from the beach side of the house. There is a boat
