Hi all
Before I headed home I thought I would stop in and have a look for the
Frigatebird. Lol why not!?
It was in the air when I arrived and it then headed south. Last I could see it
was about at the Park gates. When I left around 7:30 or 8 it was still out of
sight. No idea if it came back

The continuing pair was present in the vicinity of the driveway entrance to
1203 Frank Hill Rd. and showing well at 11:55 today. The male was singing
from atop a small dead tree on the west side of Frank Hill Rd., but also
from metal fence posts, a low shrub, and a wooden post on the east side.
Continuing pair still present near 1203 Frank Hill Rd. Very active, male very
vocal, easy to spot.

At 9 a.m. this morning the Frigatebird is back it it's 'usual' tree on the
jetty of Sturgeon Creek. I just adjusted the scope on the deck of Pelee Wings
so it is on the bird. Better views likely at 724 Robson Road.

The Dowitcher was a Short-billed, as per spotted flanks, less rufous overall,
and "tu-tu-tu" call notes.
No sign of the Red Knot.

Just to close the loop we analyzed our photos of the suspected Short-billed
Dowitcher yesterday and confirmed with Ron Pittaway that it was indeed a
Short-billed (hendersonii sub-species). It has extensive cinnamon colouring
right down to the legs and under the belly to the tail. It has
Slowly circling around for the last 15 minutes. Headed in a northerly direction
at present. Seen from the deck at pelee wings.
