Hello everyone
So far there haven't been any reports of the Brown Booby today. Two Canadian
birders looked from 10:15 to 3:00 today without any luck. This is the first day
since October 7th that sightings have been not been reported on the Canadian or

peace bridge.
The bird is currently sitting on cement pier on the train bridge on the
north side of bridge. Currently on u.s soil. This is a previously reported

With the speedy assistance of Mark Peck and Tyler Hoar, we saw the Brown Booby
on the Donnelly Pier this afternoon. THEN, we got the flat tire on our vehicle
repaired while 2 Great Egrets and a Cooper's Hawk flew by.

Hi all,
The bird flew in and landed on the lighthouse just after 5:40 pm, presumably to
roost. The rain picked up just after that so I imagine it will spend the night
there. It landed right at the top of the lighthouse (on the metal just below
the peak) with two Cormorants.

Sorry for the late post. Today at roughly 3:00pm Mark Ansell, Mike Nielson and
I saw the Brown Booby fly in and land on the Reef Lighthouse. It flushed a
couple of times and landed again briefly before heading east and disappearing
behind Donnelly's Pier.

Around 5:00 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 17, The Brown Booby was seen circling the
decrepid lighthouse nearest the Canadian shore. It circled about 6 times and
finally landed on the first concrete level up from the water. It stayed there,
probably to roost, on the corner where the two wall

The Brown Booby was spotted on the concrete blocks under the International
Railway Bridge around 12:30 by Ron and Lynda Goodridge. Around 1 pm it flew
towards Lake Erie (opposite Nichols Marina) and then flew back to the Railway
Bridge.

It is great that some detailed photos of this bird have been obtained. It
appears to be an adult female which I think may makes identifying it to the
"subspecies" a bit challenging. This may be quite important as Brown Booby is
regarded as several sibling species by many seabird experts

Brian Wylie just called to say the Brown Booby is presently sitting with
cormorants on "Donnelly's pier/breakwall at Erie Basin Marina on the U.S.
side of the Niagara river.
In Ontario the bird can be viewed from Mathers Park opposite the old fort
in Fort Erie
A group of 15 of us are currently watching the bird standing on the edge of
Donnelly's pier.
Earlier, I also found a red-throated loon, just beginning to transition from
alternate plumage, just offshore the Ontario Bakery downstream from the
industrial railway crossing. Several other birders s

the bridge. The bird continued flying up river until it was out of sight from

Lake Erie and landed in the vicinity of Erie Basin Marina break wall. It is
sitting on the break wall now.

of watchers spotted a Brown Booby working the Buffalo, US and Fort Erie,
Ontario side of the Niagara river around the Peace Bridge. Last seen headed
towards Jaeger Rocks.
