Well it hasn't been a banner year at the lagoons. High water levels have kept
away the shorebirds. I visited again today and found the following:
1000+ Geese - mostly Canadas but I would not be surprised at a few cacklers in
the group
1 Snow Goose
3 Gallinules
Multiple Mallards, Teal amd W
I birded the lagoons this afternoon with Michel Gauthier.
1000+ C Geese - could not find any Cacklers
2 dozen Mallards
1 Black Duck
3 dozen Green-winged Teal
2 Bufflehead
2 Lesser Scaup
1 Pintail
1 A. Widgeon
2 Dunlin
1 Lesser Yellowlegs

I visited the Almonte Lagoons between 10 am and noon today (Saturday). There
were well over 1000 Canada Geese including some good candidates for Cackling
geese. Also lots of Wood Ducks and Blue-winged Teal and a few Yellowlegs. As
well there was one Snow goose (white)

I have been at the Almonte Lagoons over the last three weeks every few days and
I was there this morning . The usual suspects are present:
tons of lesser yellowlegs
a few greater yellowlegs
tons of killdeers
number of solitary sandpipers have decreased from 20 or 30 to a few
handfuls of least
