year at this time the list was 192 species (finishing with 200), while in 2016

The unrelenting cold weather that has descended upon even the most southerly
reaches of the province has limited the number of lingering bird species being
discovered, and as a result the Ontario winter bird list is lower than it has
been by this date in previous winters.
Since my last update
As we approach the end of the year, new birds have been added to the winter
bird list almost daily, a trend that will certainly slow down as the last few
remaining "easy" species are accounted for. Since my last update on December
15, the following species have been added bringing the total to 2
