Maria, I'm a little behind on learning the nls player. Are all the
instructions posted on the Bard site. So much to do, so little time.
Thanks. Marilyn

One more thing to keep in mind is that some players won't have the bookshelf
feature unless they've been upgraded to version 2.1.3.
To check your version press the sleep button 10 times rapidly.

Hi Maria;
Thank you very much for this great information. I have played around with
the buttons and didn't find anything on using Book Shelf. I do have 2 books
downloaded onto a cartridge and your info will help very much. Thanks
again, take care.

The bookshelf is available if you have downloaded more than one book on a
cartridge.
To access the bookshelf after inserting the cartridge and turning on player:
Hold play/pause button for a few seconds till you hear bookshelf.
You can then use your forward or rewind arrows to move between books.
Hi Rosemarie. I had never considered Firefox but would do so if you could
tell me about some of its advantages over Internet Explorer. Much thanks.

Hi, Pete,
You could also switch to firefox. I'm using it with NVDA which is a free screen
reader and the two programs work great together.

Hi, Marilyn,
I also heard that IE 6 won't be supported too much longer so I'm thinking of
going to IE 8. I heard on another list that NVDA works very well with IE 8. Do
you know how much longer we'll be able to use IE 6?

If you're upgrading from IE 6 directly to IE 8, you cannot roll back to IE
7. If you uninstall IE 8, you will roll back to the previously installed
version of IE, which in your case is IE 6. You could try one of the
third-party IE suites that contains all versions of IE including IE 7, but

Obsolete and I hadn't even thought about I E 7.
If it turns out that I don't like I E 8, where would I go to get version 7.
Much thanks to all who answered my question.

Another little trick and tip:
If you buy a thumb drive that has a cap over the part that goes into the USB

then the thumb drive can go into the port that the official cartridges go

Just for the record, this is why i'm interested in the thumb drive for

Hi Rick & Septh:
I just put my Kingston data traveler into the cartridge slot and it plays

I've done both. The difference is the custom option gives

You are incorrect. If you have the NLS DTB players and have a USB thumb
drive you can download from the NLS BARD site. You don't have to wait to
get books if you don't want. All that you need to do is register on said
site.

Simplest way is to go to the icon on your programs menu and hit either
