Try copying the document into NotePad and then copy the NotePad
document back to Word. I find sometime that this gets rid of any format.

You could try reinstalling the drivers.
Uninstall all the plustech software and install just the drivers for the
scanner.
I have a scanner from plustech I'm not sure of the model but I had the best
luck using the wia choice.

I never had any luck with the twain driver.
It just seemed to crash when I tried to scan.
