It could be one of to things. You don't have the heat up high enough. It could be the diverter tube out the cold water side or inlet of the tank. I would check and see if it is the diverter Pipe. Than if you haven't, start draining a gallon or two of water from the tank each month to get rid of

Kevin, Is your hot water tank gas or electric? Possibly the acquastat got set to a lower temperature. If it is an electric heater, possibly one of the coils is burned out. Possibly the lower coil is buried in sediment at the bottom of the tank and has lost efficiency. Others can do a better

You can perform a continuity check with a meter. Just turn off the power, remove the two wires which are connected to the coil (if this is electric of course) and place a probe on each terminal from which you removed the wires. This worked for me when I tested my water heater, but this was
