Is your hot water tank gas or electric?
Possibly the acquastat got set to a lower temperature.
If it is an electric heater, possibly one of the coils is burned out.
Possibly the lower coil is buried in sediment at the bottom of the tank

and before the end of the shower, the hot water runs out. Also, this

Old gas fired hot water heaters that do not produce much hot water may have a
broken fill tube inside. The tube directs inlet cold water to the bottom of
