Thanks,
I'm sorry for the off-topic messages on this; I did resolve my issue, thanks to
great suggestions and Google.
This laptop does have a switch to disable & enable the connection, but I had no
idea of this until a few hours ago.
All is well again here.

Other ideas, then, on very small compact systems with good sound?
Looking for something to put in my kitchen, to jam with, while cooking,
cleaning up, etc.

Claudia, on another list, these systems were discussed. Some say
that for small systems, they sound great. But, they have idiot
controls for tone, so if you don't like the presets, you have no way
of customizing your listening. Some said that if a person shops
around, he can get as a good of

Claudia,
I remember years ago when I could see, I trialed one of those Bose systems .
It did sound pretty good but was very expensive. I remember it had a very
small, not very tactile remote, about the size of a credit card. Not sure

This spring I bought Janet a Tivoli radio. It is a small square device wit
simple tuning knob, it is rechargeable though which is interesting and it does
have an input jack. There is no tone control but the sound is quite good, is
designed to be weather resistant.

Claudia,
Probably late, but it has nothing to do with your ISP.
you may have to reset your wireless router., turn it off and back on again,

List guidelines.
The topics that can be discussed on the Blind Handy Man list are as follows.
Here is a direct quote from the beginning of every show, "building repairing or
maintaining, all designed with the blind in mind". That can be your house,

I have heard them, and have been aware of them since the 80's.
I can say this for sure, expensive and worth the money in the sound

Hi;
I have a bose table radio/cd and it is very nice but very
expensive. I found a company call cambridge soundworks that, in my
opinion) has better sound for about half the price. Their products are
worth the money.

I think Bose make decent consumer grade speakers. One has to understand what
their goal is. They want to provide the best sound
they can in the smallest enclosure possible. Think of it as range of sound
verses the size of each speaker. Given this, they have
done a good job.

I'm afraid I can't help you with anything specific. If all you want is
something to listen to in the kitchen you could do just as well sound wise
and a lot better money wise with almost anything other than Bose. Most of

I have to do that occasionally with my wired router. It must be a glitch in
the router itself rather than the wireless part.

According to the group web page, it was founded on january 17, 2003. So
it is like six years and 9 months old. And there have been a hair over
48,900 messages to the list. Yep, if you are new to the list, you have a
mere 50 thousand messages to catch up on.

Depends on how you connect to the router, and if your on a laptop.
Laptops have buttons or sliders that will let you shut off the connection.

Another condition that could cause this are cordless phones. They run
in the 2.4ghrtz range and so do router wireless connections. Only the
new model phones run out of this band.

Only one problem here. If the router loses the ip. Then it alone can
not get out to the Internet. That problem is held with your provider
if they provide the router. if not then its up to router manufacture.
The lose of a ip does not have anything or ever will have anything to
do with the router

Probably a finger nail will be as effective as you need. I don't think it will
stick real well to metal.
If that doesn't work try a little acetone. I don't know what effect that will
have on the band though.
