You should be able to add an extension to the end of the washer hose. I've
found them in the store before that look like a funnel and if they don't have
those, you can ask for a short length of hose that will fit over your current
end.
There are several ways they may suggest you do this.
You can take the plate off and put the bait in
with the receptacle if it will fit.

Our sink has holes either side at the back of the sink on the top.
This allows you to bypass the washing machine water directly out down the
drain.
So it would not matter if the washing machine was on the left or right side
you have access to discharge the water this way.
