One thing I didn't mention. The common and hot might be pushed into holes in
the back of the plug rather than attached to the
screw terminals. If this is the case, you may or may not be able to pull the
wire out. If you can't just cut it off at the plug
and restrip the wire. Otherwise, you

buy the kind with real screw terminals; unless you feel very uncomfortable
using or don't own pliers. Then the shove the wire in and hope it holds

Personally I think that kind should be crushed as well.

Hello, all,
I'm new to the list. I'm Carlos, and live in Maine. Some of you may
know me from other lists.
My question pertains to electrical outlets. Some of mine are loose;
meaning that anything plugged into these outlets hangs downward with the
weight of the brick/ETC or falls out and
The electrical outlet should be replaced immediately. If the plug is not
making good contact, heat build up will occur due to
extra resistence.

The key is to make sure the power is turned off. :)
It's not too hard. You just have to put the wires back where they came off.
When I do it , I move one wire at a time. You might
have to move 2 sets of wires if the plug is in the middle of the circuit. I
have a color identifier that helps
exactly, if the outlet is coming out of the wall; or the plug isn't
staying in the plug it a pain of one kind or another.
I've recently gotten a 3 prong extension cord which does not hold 2 prong
plugs. It just doesn't. I guess they think it is a safety feature to
assure the use of a ground

Hi Alan,
You'll probably get lots of opinions about this one, but here in
Hawaii where roaches can be an issue, we use some form of boric acid.
You can buy it in powder form, but that tends to be messy. We have
something here called Harris
