I think that having the Zoom meeting both allows people who couldn't
normally attend to at least hear the information, and (to a degree)
gives us
A great thought Richard. A big Thank You to all who work for the good of BVARC. And I would add, please be free and generous with your praises for our hard working fiends on an ongoing basis, not just in the aftermath of a mini crisis. JP K5JPPSent from my iPhoneOn Apr 16, 2023, at 8:18 AM,
Ok - not to minimize anyone here, but I want to take a minute to say thank
you. Thank all our members that work their tail off every event. We often
call out those who do not participate and give little prayer to those who
do. I personally could not make the meeting because my son had a ball game
The meeting wasn't in Stafford. It was in West Houston close to the
Bellaire & Addicks Clodine intersection.
We all know hams love food, but it shouldn't be the deciding factor if
people are going to attend. I checked the BVARC Beacon and emails from
the reflector and I saw no mention of
With over 330 members please don't think you are being singled out. You
took the time to participate by zoom along with roughly 10% of the club
including in-person attendees.
Somehow, I do not think all the rest were playing bingo at the VFW.

I attended via zoom. Unless it's an emergency, I don't drive at night and
it would have been unsafe for me to be crossing Houston at 10PM. I counted
18 last night that attended via the same format. It's not worth the risk
to be on the freeways at night. Monty KI5JML

I live in the heights. I will not be attending any meetings in stafford at
6 or 7pm on a weekday. it would take me 2 hours to drive that at that
time. If the meeting were at 5 or 530pm i could leave work and go straight
there and it would only be 40min. (I work 1/2 way there). I dont know the
I think RSVPs would solve the problem of wasted expense. A good idea to head off future disappointmentJP, K5JPPSent from my iPhoneOn Apr 14, 2023, at 6:22 AM, Keith Dutson via BVARC wrote:

I am a life member. I am also one of the grey hairs, at age 81. I live in
Tomball with my wife who is recovering from cancer. It is difficult for me to
get to BVARC meetings, but I would like to attend when opportunity allows.

John,
You don't need to be a member to attend in-person. The presentation was
good and hopefully will be available on line soon.

I am not a member of that club but wanted to catch the ZOOM of the antenna
presentation. Unfortunately the tech side of it did not work out.

The pandemic is over.
(Our government said so.)
I think we should stop the zoom meeting.
If you want to see and hear the speaker you have to be there.
I agree with you on people not showing up.

Perhaps the club should ask for RSVP maybe a week before the meeting, and
whether they will be there in person or by Zoom.
That should give you a better estimate of attendance than blind guessing.
I admit I am surprised (but not pissed) by the fact that no one has thought of
this before…
