Took a long trip to Chimney Bluffs State Park with my wife to see the Western
Grebe. The Western Grebe was seen for quite some time and fairly easily found.

(Saturday). We drove up the lake. Near King Ferry, we saw a flock
of about a hundred Snow Geese flying around, Blues mixed in.
At Montezuma, there were tons of ducks, and many Tundra Swans.
Highlights included a close up Ruddy Duck , and Green
Unlike previous years, John & I found no sign of any geese, snows or Canadas,
anywhere around the Sherwood Rd. farm pond. We stopped to talk to the Cox's
just beyond the pond & to their dismay & ours, apparently hunters had been
allowed in the area for the first time ever. Mrs. Cox said soon as

morning. After focussing much of our attention on the Common Mergansers, we

Over Hunt Hill Rd. (east of Ithaca) this beautiful Saturday afternoon (1:30)
were two very cooperative, low flying, slowly circling GOLDEN EAGLES, flying
over within 10 minutes of each other. Also seen between 12 and 1:30 were 3
TURKEY VULTURES, 2 NORTHERN HARRIERS, 2 KILLDEER, 1 RAVEN
With pipits as our target species, Susie & I headed out to walk about Mt.
Pleasant this morning. Uncharacteristically, we actually found some; a
flock of 21 AMER. PIPITS landed in a field close to the road with some AMER
ROBINS. They did not stay long. Also, we came upon a SINGING FOX SPARROW,

Sorry for the lateness of this. Yesterday at around noon Dave Loparco
found and a number of others re-found a male Eurasian Widgeon at
Tsache (sp) pool at MNWR.
