Dave's delightful post with all the details that make such good, educational &
fun reading. His, & Dave Nicosia's post for Sat. will be esp. helpful, when
printed out, to carry along on a jaunt by daughter, Becky, & me,
Bob McGuire, Ann Mitchell & I spent today birding from Stewart Park to Montezuma. Stewart Park had the usual suspects for this time of year, including BARN SWALLOWS, BANK SWALLOWS, SPOTTED SANDPIPER, CASPIAN TERNS, DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANTS, BELTED KINGFISHERS, ten COMMON MERGANSERS on a log (the o
Wow!!! I just want to thank everyone who posted today. Dave Nicosia's list was
great for those of us (ME, esp.!) who have great difficulty with shorebirds. I
am delighted to see that coots & pb grebes are being seen again at the refuge.
The last several yrs. almost none were seen.

I had the privilege today of leading our local bird club to
Montezuma wetlands complex. The focus for this trip
was shorebirds. My goal was to get good looks at
many different species for the group, and point out key
field marks and behaviors. We had 10 people and
saw 12 different species of shoreb
I haven't heard from my young Cooper's Hawks during the last few days - maybe
they're out trying to fend for themselves now - but begging Sharp-shin

and look up to see one or two soaring above the woods. Today there

Let's all post MORE. And thanks to those who do.

Linda -
I LOVED your CEDAR WAXWING posting!
I love it when "my" own Cedar Waxwings fly catch out of my tall Cottonwood
trees by the lake - they are rather herky jerky the way they do it compared to
the ever graceful swallows!

Thank you Linda & Donna
I, too, have missed the reports. I do not have the time to scan both eBird
reports & the list-serve but prefer the list postings. I realize many of those
who use eBird also probably do not have time to use the list-serve. BUT I TRULY
APPRECIATE every report, esp. th

highlights were three Green Herons, two Scarlet Tanagers, and two young

distant birds I would have liked a better look at.
