I'd like to add the under-underdog then, Tim Fenn's povscript+
https://sites.google.com/site/timfenn/povscript. Makes really clear and
nice figures and is rather simple to compile. For the most part you do
not even need a mouse to use it ...

Dear all,
sorry for the off topic question (that has been asked many times before,
but the hardware keeps changing): I want to buy a linux workstation with
Nvidia 3D vision and an Alienware OptX AW2310 23-inch 3D TFT monitor.
This set-up suggested by the CCP4 wiki for TFT stereo. Has anyone a
Dear Jose,
I used both instruments for a number of years, first the VP ITC and
later on the ITC 200. I personally find the ITC 200 much more demanding
to operate. I think Microcal managed to improve the sensitivity of the
ITC 200 about 2-3 fold compared to the VP ITC, but they decided to

Hi,
can someone point me to a recent coot binary that runs under Ubuntu
10.04 64 bit? There are so many compiling issues that I am about to give
up compiling it myself
thanks!

Hi,
I am trying to install mrbump on a 32 bit ubuntu linux desktop (kernel:
2.6.31-22-generic, python 2.4, 2.5 and 2.6 tested). When executing
"python setup.py" after extracting mrbump-0.4.4, I get the following
error messages:

Dear all,
sorry for the off-topic question. I am looking for an affordable+small
crystallisation incubator (16-21 deg Celsius). Ideally, it would fit
neatly under my bench (in a genetics lab) and hold a few dozen 96 and
some 24 well plates. A friend already suggested to get a wine-cooler?!

Dear Alexandra,
I bought this one recently and it is very nice. Very low vibration and
enough space for about 25 24-well plates plus maybe 50 96-well plates.
The only problem I had is that in my case the temperature reading on the
external LCD display is slightly off compared to the 'real' te
Dear all,
sorry for the non-CCP4 question. I am expressing a protein in insect
cells that is targeted for secretion into the medium. After expression,
I want to concentrate the medium containing my protein of interest (from
10 l to 0.3 L) and at the same time change the buffer to something tha
Hi,
I wouldn't bother either. I once phased a structure based on about 160
oxidized Se in the AU (Hothorn et al., JBC, 2006). Just make sure that
most of them are oxidized and do a proper absorption scan.

Dear all,
sorry for the off-topic question. I want to buy a simple peristaltic pump to
apply larger sample volumes (300-500 mL) to simple affinity columns (desired
flow-rates: 2-8 mL/min). I was wondering whether the (good?)-old Pharmacia/GE
P1 pump still represents the best system engineers have
