Here's a really weird one:
When I first opened it I could only see it going clockwise - and I
tried for 10 minutes looking at it all ways, looking away, unfocused,
scrolling, the whole bit.

I just opened it, and I saw it going counterclockwise. Then I looked
at it a bit longer and it seemed to 'switch' and start going
clockwise.
After that, no matter how long I stared, I couldn't see it going
counterclockwise again!
