I went to the Cancun area a few years ago. We bypassed Cancun and went
straight to Isla Mujeres - an island not very far away, which was much
more low key (it was spring and we wanted to avoid the spring breakers).
We did a fabulous snorkling trip from there (just an afternoon).

There's this out of the way place to have breakfast. It's in someone's
backyard ... All kinds of crafty bits everywhere and chickens running
loose. Sounds like a mess - but it was THEE BEST BREAKFAST EVER.

The Casa Marina Resort is a much nicer place in my opinion ;) Check it
out whilst you are there. It's on the opposite side of the island from
the sunset pier ... Just follow Duval Street to the end, hand a left at
the Southernmost point and keep walking, hugging the streets that are

I've been to Key West twice, but it was years ago. Be sure to do
sunset at the pier at least one night. Eat a brownie from the brownie
lady, if she's still around. And, wonder in amazement at the
performing house cats.
