yeah but look at Chelsea Clinton, look at Elizabeth Edwards, look at
Jenna Bush and Billy Carter. I don't think the family members can NOT
be public figures at that level of politics. Note that I say this, but

I know they're there. Certainly not denying that.

the daughter is not a public figure, that is the entire point of this

Think Chelsea. Think Teresa Kerry. Tho I admire Obama for putting her
off limits. In terms of the media though, she *is* a public figure,

I actually have not seen much bashing in the media... more on blogs,

Certainly its curious to hear
When the candidate supports an abstinence only policy and her 17 year
old is pregnant, I don't think there's a way for her daughter not to
become a public figure.

BS. A public figure is someone who puts themselves in the limelight.
She never asked for any of this attention. And yet the MSM is all too
happy to find a scandal to use to rip the poor girl to shreds over.
And yes, they are ripping the girl to shreds. They don't have to
directly say anything

that is the mother. There is no question that Sarah Palin is a public
figure. I believe here daughter is also, but that is less clear-cut.

So reading that definition, I don't agree that the daughter is a
public figure. The only way she could be a public figure is as an

circumstance, and where she must have become a central figure in a
significant public controversy.

Let's consider one other question. Palin could have avoided all of
this controversy by encouraging her daughter to have an abortion. No
baby, no story. Of course, that flies in the face of everything she
believes in, and she didn't do that, nor would she.
So would it have been better for her to
