The accelerated g requires components at both ends that are compatible. So Netgear's access point will only speed up Netgear cards. It does this by basically bonding two channels to double the effective bandwidth, but the bonding mechanism is proprietary to each vendor afaik. If you know you can

Just remember that if you're talking mostly networking out to the Internet rather than with other local system then 802.11b is already much faster than pretty much any home network connection.Basically if you're on a cable/DSL connection then 802.11g just won't be much (if at all) faster than

From the Mac POV, there's the Airport Extreme. My experience with Airports is that they are really nice if you have a Mac to configure them and update the firmware. They seem to work well x-platform, but you do need that one Apple to do the config. -- Ben Doom Programmer General Lackey
