Hold on another 6 months and wait for 802.11n. 111 mbps. The first
models should be hitting America by September and will drive down the
cost of g devices.
For that matter, 802.11b devices probably will be handed out as free
gifts for joining a bank at that point.

The accelerated g requires components at both ends that are compatible. So
Netgear's access point will only speed up Netgear cards. It does this by
basically bonding two channels to double the effective bandwidth, but the
bonding mechanism is proprietary to each vendor afaik.
If you know you can

I don't think 802.11n will achieve a market penetration of any significance. Just like with 802.11a, 802.11n
call me geeky, but I don't know if I can stand it another six months!
The accelerated g is 108 mbps!

Just remember that if you're talking mostly networking out to the Internet
rather than with other local system then 802.11b is already much faster than
pretty much any home network connection.Basically if you're on a cable/DSL
connection then 802.11g just won't be much (if at all) faster than
I believe that one has a web interface for it.

Yeah, it looks like it can handle being outside. But I would still give it a

I've been looking at the 892.11g stuff. I like the d-link products,
they are pretty nice:

Has anyone done a 802.11g setup yet? Any recommendations on
hardware? The only hardware I see right now is Linksys...

From the Mac POV, there's the Airport Extreme.
My experience with Airports is that they are really nice if you have a Mac
to configure them and update the firmware. They seem to work well
x-platform, but you do need that one Apple to do the config.

with Linksys after some trouble.
