Some other things to consider: Contribute uses Dreamweaver templates
to know what regions should be editable. It also uses the file-based
Dreamweaver check-in/check-out system, so if you're standardized on
Dreamweaver for this you'll be fine. But if you work in a mixed-editor

I use DW, but not the templates.
Do you HAVE to use DW templates for it to work? I have tried them before,
and maybe I am being too old-school, but I prefer to hand code and plan my
own 'templates', such as headers, footers, etc.
I have downloaded the Contribute trial, and it is installing rig
You don't have to use DW templates, and Contribute understands
includes in much the same way as DW does so it's still possible to use
includes for the site design. We actually mix both, using Templates to
just lock down what areas are editable and use includes for bringing

Oops, that was supposed to be off-list.
My apologies.

Great synopses from you guys.
FYI, I would only suggest this to clients who like to update press
releases, news articles, simple content changes. That is really all our
clients want.
Most of the time, we see clients that want a full CMS system, we provide
it, then they end up just having us d

Well since we haven't yet been able to get our organization to adopt a
real CMS, we do everything either with Contribute or focused, scratch
written CF apps to manage news and such.
I don't find the things you describe to be Contribute's strong point.
The problem isn't in writing the news article,
I am familiar with it. We've deployed it for over 100 sites and one of
these days we might actually do a case study with MM.
I like it a lot for what it is. It's the easiest UI I've seen for
non-technical users to edit content on a site. Be aware though that it
is effectively anti-CMS. It's only f
We use it for content updates as an interim solution until we can get
our CMS implemented. Its a very decent rudimentary system. Has various
