I live in a mixed development, some single family houses, some townhouses.
We are at the end of a long road with only one way in and out. The
association sponsors a parade for the younger kids at 5:30 and after the
parade to about 7:00, we get hammered. Its really fun. Everyone is
outside,
The neighborhood she lives in has about 200, and they get some traffic
from friends and relatives because it is a good, safe neighborhood
with good decorations, lots of parents watching what is going on. And
good candy.
I remember one year getting canned soda. That was great, it was about
halfway through the neighborhood, and one house is giving out cold drinks.
It really hit the spot.

We had several this year, of course we are also in a neighborhood where
there are several kids that are in the age range for that.
I think the neighborhoods shift around, as generations go some areas don't
get as many kids coming through.

In areas with high turnover and new families moving in it makes a big
difference.

When I was younger I lived in a rural area where the neighborhood was made
up of mostly 5 acre plots. Usually one of the dads would load up a flatbed
and we do a hay ride around from house to house, then after it was over we'd
all get together for a party.
It worked out pretty well.
0, zip, nada, nothin'.
I've got a shitload of candy to get rid of.

That's the problem here. Nice neighborhood. VERY QUIET, safe. But not a
lot of young kids. We got maybe 30 kids. Maybe. LOTS of candy left.
Cheers,
Erika

Springfield,
We didn't get anybody either, but we have a 900ft long driveway/gravel
road that's not lit :)
Surprised the heck out of me the other day when a jehovah's witness
rang my doorbell. I didn't think anyone knew we were back there.

I usually take off a little early to make sure we get home before the kids
are out walking around. With that many kids it makes driving a bit scary.

In my apartment (2nd floor, keyed building entrance), I had about 30
kids tonight.
And my sister's neighborhood had a couple hundred kids.
