I'm not terribly interesting in working with CF 7 since CF 8 is due out next year. I'm overly busy now developing with 4.5! I was holding off learning the new coding and methods until CF 8 comes out. By that logic, you might as well just wait until, say, CF 10 comes out. There's a lot

Greetings, all. I need to set up a development box and stop developing directly to my production server, which is running CF 4.5. I could set up 4.5 on the dev box and know that I have consistency with the production server. However, I already have CF 7 setup and could use it for development.

Rick, Having been in this situation for a few clients, my strong advice is DEVELOP ON THE SAME PLATFORM AS DEPLOYMENT. You're going to screw up, simple as that. For example, CFDUMP isn't in CF4.5. You can't use UDFs. So many different ways to screw up. Trust me, I know :) One option is to create

While I agree with this, I get the impression he just does CF 4.5 for all clients and therefore that is mainly all he knows. With that being the case then chances are he will never get bit. He could however probably run CF 4.5 and CF7 on the same machine and no VMWare just use the built in web

I also prefer to use VMWare Workstation for different platform an CF versions, but I think if you know new features that you did not have on CF 4.5, you may use CF7 for your dev. environment. But even in this case I also recommend to test on a CF 4.5 box before deploying. When
