CF5 and rebooted. Have also installed all patches for CF5. Have
followed all the suggestions from the MM FAQ regarding this (Getting a
Name and Password Challenge Response When Requesting a ColdFusion Page).
Still getting it.
And.. Interestingly enough. The challenge only happens on configured
sites.. Not the default website or CF Administrator.
Odd...

Lee,
I've encountered this aswell. Have you tried selecting all of the files in
the root directory of the website, and completely reseting their
permissions while forcing the changes to propagate to the children. I found
in one case that I had to do this when adding a new NT user even though I
What did you change in the permissions?

Lee,
I think I misunderstood you. My problem was when I added a new user and was
prompted for login info that was not being accepted. I think you are trying
to allow the IUSER account, anonymous access, right?
What version of IIS are you running? Is CF running under the system account
or a use

| Thanks Lee. Are you running Win2K? Probably. I did have that

What about Security Policy settings? Have you looked at these? I have had
the same thing happen and ended up trying everything under the sun to get
it to work, until finally it did. Unfortunately, I'm not 100% on what fixed
the issue.

You may need to allow Authenticated Users: Read/Execute on the jrun.dll used
by IIS to interface with CF. By default, that's in
\CFusionMX\runtime\lib\wsconfig\1.

Oh no! The IIS anonymous user account does not need to be able to read and
execute all the stuff in \CFusion or \CFusionMX! Yikes! There's only one
file that needs t
Looks like another control panel program was specifically denying access
to the CFUSION directory.
Once I added that, it all works quite well.
Thanks to all for suggestions...
