Well, I finally did it... I put a high torque mini starter on my car! Man,
what a difference! I think Raj was the last person to rave about this
upgrade... Thanks Raj! :)
I'd highly recommend this to anyone, especially if you're having hot start
problems. I did the ford solenoid thing and new
Just had to share with someone. I finally got my El Camino back on the road
yesterday. I pulled a 350 out of my uncle's basement (in pieces) several
months ago, and about $350-$400 later, I have running engine for my car!
The last time I had both cars running (and my entire garage available!)
Dave,
A big Congrats on the engine build and install! What a perfect time with the nice summer weather underway.

hey
Was just wondering what you had done to the chevelle to get it to drop down into the 12s. I am probably going to buy a 307 chevelle for like 4 gs that is mint but needs to be assembled. So of course i am going to upgrade the motor so let me know

Congratulations
Dave!

I too have my 70 pulling 12's in the 1/4 mile. Take a look at my webpage, all the engine specs are on there.

Firsti just signed up for this list. If this topic has been covered
already, then i apologize.
I just acquired a 71 chevelle with no motor or tranny. It now has a 12
bolt rear end under it, but i palm on building a wicked street machine
with about 500Hp.
If i swap the 12 bolt for a ford 9,
Kyle
First..welcome to the list, many knowledgable folk here
I have a 70 with a 454 that pushes out about 510 HP and have a 12 bolt under it and it handles it and then some. A 9" Ford would need to have all the brackets for a chevelle application welded on. There are companies such as Moser
Terrific news. Another classic resurrected. So whats next?

Thanks to everybody for your help on this. Although the sound appeared to
be coming from the left rear, the problem ended up being the front u-joint
as some of you mentioned. Anyway, thanks again to all of you!

I'm with Tom. That 12 bolt can handle a lot of
power. I think I would forget a 9" Ford for now and use the bucks somewhere
else.

I would say definitely keep the 12B. It is just about as strong as a Ford 9 and for street use you should have no major problems with it, now running bigger sized slicks at the track is another story Mikey
If your not going to use that rusty old 12 bolt I'll take it off your

Dave:
you should check with your agent. Mine has a recorder and if I call and leave a message it is insured. I know I may be taking a risk but so far so good.
