Craig, sorry, I'm not able to find the article on
the clutch vibration. But like you, this guy changed his whole drive line and
still had bad vibes. The article dealt with the whole clutch. Linkage to the
pressure plate. Long story short, he replaced the pressure plate and clutch
disc. No
While looking for an article on clutch vibrations I
ran across an article on rebuilding the steering box. The whole 9 yards.

Josh,
I agree pretty much 100%. But I
think a big part of the problem is the way these parts are manufactured. For
example, let's say you've got a set of trim forming dies - one for each wheel
lip molding. You send them out to a supplier in the stamping business - even a

I know this topic has been beat in the past, but I wanted to get a feel for
where people are buying their parts and who's getting the best prices.
I was in Huntington Beach, CA last week and was able to visit both Original

OK all,
I have installed my headers and it's time to start looking for new spark
plug wires. I'm working on a '69 Chevelle 396 SS 4-speed and installed
Hooker comp headers part# 2455. I recall reading about 90 degree and 135
degree boots for the plugs and need some direction. Local auto parts

told both. Just looking for clarification.

My brother I recently placed an order for 7 items from OPG.
While the order was billed correctly, 4 items shipped were wrong, 1 wasn't

The model series will show if it was V8 or 6 but not what size V8 or 6.
Example for a base '64 Elky, 45380 was a 6-cyl and 45480 was V8 - the Custom
El Camino got a 45580 for a 6-cyl and 45680 for a V-8. The trim tag model
series should match that portion of the VIN.

Hi Richard,
I personally think you should stay away from Accel spark plug wires. I
prefer MSD Super Conductor wires. They're rated at only 40 ohms per foot
and you can get bendable boots allowing you to angle them for your
specific needs.

I also have the MSD wires, they are rated the least resistance out there that I could find at the time. I like them noticed a difference in response after putting on (maybe just in my head) but I'm pretty satisfied with them.
The cowl tag is as follows
12A
Style 64-5680 Body VN 3288
Trim 763 Paint 93-8
ACC E-5V
In the book I have its says the number 5680 stands for 2-dr, Deluxe 8cyl.
and the 2nd and third Vin numbers 55 says it stands for El Camino Deluxe
6cyl. The book I'm am using is Chevelle, Malibu and El Camino

All 375hp's were 4 bolt...a few 350hp's were also 4 bolt but mostly 2 bolt.
A matter of terms I suppose. Some mfgs list them as straight and some as
180.

Your book matches what GM says. Looks like a foul-up on one or the other;
the trim tag does show beige paint and medium fawn interior - sound right?
Many states' title have the VIN as well. Is it on the title?

Yes the colors are right. The title shows a 6cyl. Maybe just a mess up at
the factory cause I don't see what it would help anyone to change one of
them and not the other. Any idea what the numbers at the bottom are for?

The best way to check is get the casting number off block in question and
check it on the Mortec site.. there are definitely some casting numbers
that can be either 2 or 4 bolt , 4 bolt being for the high HP version of the
engine and 2 bolt for the low HP version..375hp sb a 4 bolt
Anyone using Dyno-max coated headers on their big block? JEG's has a
great price on them, but I am worried that I would be getting what I
paid for :) How's the fit? Any troubles changing spark plugs? Any
clearance problems or one pipe have to go over the frame as I have heard
some do?
Any
My best guess is plant codes but could be some options. I'm not that up on
the option codes, sorry.
