Hi Clint,
I have this conversion on my Elky. Unfortunately I didn't get to
drive it much before the change, so I can't say if it better or not. Based
on the driving I've done lately I can say I'm happy with the results. It
handles quite well (considering it has an alliron big block)compared

The yard is called U-Wrench-It and its in Virginia Beach VA.
Right by the Naval Air station. So while your pulling parts you can watch
the air show.

anyone ever heard of carpet on the lower portion of
door panels on 69's?
Yes. Buick
Olds and Pontiac A-body cars all had carpet on the lower portion of the door
panel in 1969 (but not Chevy).

Guys,
According to Goodmark the full quarters are not available for another 6 to 9
months minimum, and then the price will be $499 each side. Until then you can
get quarter panel skins that come up to the sail panel at a fraction of the
cost. I don't understand what I DON'T
Steve
If I may offer some advice here from my experiences with aftermarket 69 skins like the ones you are describing. If they are anything like the ones I used, the bottom of the skin will extend down and cover the rocker panel. That in itself causes a problem. We had to cut off that extensions
Just this week I saw a 71 El Camino with Bullet Mirrors or Sport Mirrors on
it looked great! Does anyone know if these mirrors were a factory
option on 70-72 El Caminos, and if sodoes anyone know where to get
them?
Maybe the owner retro-fitted them to the Elky from another year
chevy?
Anyone know a good place to get gauges fixed? My temp gauge
has been bad for awhile but now my battery gauge has gone kaput.

The full ones i believe come right up into the trunk area and up to the
bottom of the quarter windows, inside the front door jamb, and way to the
back,, so you just drill out the spot welds on the old panel and then install
the new, the welding/warpage is cut to a minimum- just at the
