Here's my 2 cents...
I don't think GM will resurrect the Chevelle name because we are a small
group compared to the Camaro followers, meaning they'll a lot more Camaro named
cars than Chevelle (if GM had any brains they'd bring back both the Camaro and
Chevelle as true performance rwd cars)
Why Chrysler is just as guilty of doing this to old names as the rest of
them.
Dodge Charger ring any bells.

My Two Cents...
Say what you will about GM, but Dodge did the same
(actually worse) to the Charger name back in the '80's (anybody remember the
Daytona Chargers?).
And, for Ford -- what about the scrawny
Mustang II's of the mid to late '70's? What about the new
Thunderbird?

I was just thinking more on this. GM also destroyed the Monte Carlo and the Impala. If they end up doing the same to the Camaro, I think I will shake my head down towards GM and go buy a Dodge.

It can't be that bad, Phil.
You're catching all the flack

Oh man, I couldn't agree more. They crucified the Malibu.
What a shame. Just another POS jelly bean on wheels. I test

for me.
Then came the "Z28 SS". Morons.

Have a set of the Sanderson "full length" 1 7/8" on my BB 502. Had to
dimple a tube on each side for clearance, :( but the quality is very nice,
and the ground clearance is good too.

Thanks for getting back on this, Dave. I think it may have been one of your
earlier posts that helped steer me to try Hedmans. I didn't have any trouble
getting them in, it's just after I bolted them down all the way I noticed
they were drawn right into the cross member and control arm. If I loosen

It's been a long time since I changed a cam on my LS6 70, but I did not have to remove the grill. Once you have the radiator out of the way, there is plenty of roomI seem to remember even using a cam "install" grip; although I may have started the first bearing/lobe.
Hope this helps

Tom,
I'm catching this thread late, but I looked up my receipt and I have the
Hedman 68290's in my '70 small-block. I've had zero trouble with them, and
they've been on the car since '98. A couple of the header bolts have
loosened a little over time, but it hasn't been what I'd call even a minor
Next question on my '71 Malibu 350 "tune up".
I've been tracking down a drive train vibration for some time. Balanced
wheels and drive shaft. Found some slop in the pinion yoke, which I'm going
to replace. However, I noticed in my Haynes manual, it shows a shim between
the transmission mount and t

almost bet you can't. Unless someone has first hand knowledge, measure the
camshaft (one out of car) for its overall length - offhand I don't know what the
length is. You don't mention the engine size but you'll probably have to
raise the engine to drop the pan to get th
Thanks for all the suggestions; I'll look into the Sandersons. However, I
think I'm on the trail to identifying the headers that came with the car
(Hooker Comps); they fit, didn't leak, and stayed tight, so I might switch
to them.

John,
can you insert the cam through the grille? can you
remove the old cam through the grille and and keep it
level on the same plane that it came out? bottom line
is, if you don't have a straight shot through the
grille, your answer is no.!

Well I did it, I
flattened a lobe on my cam. What I would like to find out from the list is if it
is possible to change out the cam while engine still in car without having to
pull the grill out of my '70? I know that the radiator and A/C condenser coil
will have to come out,
PLZ Oh PLEEEZ! DON"T CUT OR WELD ON THE FUEL TANK! IT COULD BLOW BUT THEN YOU COULD HAVE SOME PRETTY HOT PICS EH LOL!!!

I drove down to Hinshaw Chevelle yesterday. I got new floor pans, trunk pans
and a fuel tank.
I should be cutting and welding very soon. Will take lots of pictures and
post them to my page.

It is the best place to take in cool air without increasing drag

Not arguing that shock mount failure could happen, and maybe have even
been the major contributing factor in your case. I did the same thing
in 69 when returning from a stint in Korea. Jacked up the rear of my 67

John,
That is correct. Bumpers were available as painted and chrome for fleetside

Harwood doesn't see a profit in making a one-year only hood for a 67
Chevelle - I've asked them before. Glasstek doesn't have a website per se
and AFAIK, the 4" is the largest they build commercially - I have the 4" and am
real happy with the quality. From what I understand,
On my '69, I have a 6" Harwood with the finished underside. It's
really a high quality hood that looks great. Underside looks so nice,
I didn't bother painting it. You can see some pics of it at

I'd highly recommend the Harwood if you can get it.
